Team Kentucky

Team Kentucky

In 2020, newly elected Andy Beshear wanted to coordinate our economic development efforts with his broader vision for the entire state. Because of this, the Cabinet for Economic Development adopted new branding under the term Team Kentucky. We also decided to overhaul our entire website with a fresh look and feel, from top to bottom. I designed the interface and developed the entire site myself.

President Trump announced an initiative called Opportunity Zones in 2018 to promote investing in specified areas across the country. Our economic development team was a front-runner in customizing the initiative to fit our strategy in Kentucky. The entire site is my own creation. I designed the layout, developed the front-end as well as the backend database and functionality.

Coastal Cloud Presentation

Coastal Cloud

Coastal Cloud is a next-generation IT consulting company with high profile clients including Warner Brothers, Spotify, and Samsung. They were in dire need of a website overhaul and had specific needs. For the design, we really wanted to focus on creating a "tech" look while also presenting the company in the way they see themselves, which is an easy going, hard working consultant.

They wanted the website to be integrated into WordPress so they could make their own content updates. They also wanted to be able to easily post open jobs as well as new clients to their site that could automatically be pulled in on different pages as they posted them. I accomplished this by creating custom post types with custom fields in the content management system that would allow them to create customized information for each post type.

AutoVision Presentation

AutoVision

AutoVision is a conference held annually hosted by some of the biggest names in the auto industry world wide including Toyota, Ford and GM. The conference is a 2 day event and averages around 300 guests and 20 speakers. Since the purpose of the conference is to discuss key trends and the future of the auto industry, the website needed a slight futuristic, high-tech feel.

KY Exports

Kentucky Export Initiative

KY Exports is an organization that brings together a variety of agencies and organizations to market Kentucky-made products worldwide. The website needed a corporate look and feel since it's target visitors are businesses and corporations, while also portraying innovation and progress. I designed and developed the entire website.

Gov. Bevin Annual Report

Governor Bevin's Annual Report

The Governor's office came to my cabinet with an idea in mind for the Governor's Annual Report website as they knew we had the capabilities of producing what they wanted. They had seen an annual report website from a governor in another state and asked if we could mimick the function and concept. I told them we could do much better and we did, as they were incredibly pleased with the end result. We needed to find a way to present key information in an efficient way that wouldn't leave the viewer reading mountains of text. We also wanted to make sure the website had a government look without sacrificing a modern, fresh feel. I worked with a designer on the overall design and layout. I developed the website alone.

ThinkKentucky

ThinkKentucky
Website for the Cabinet for Economic Development

ThinkKentucky was a massive project and involved an overhaul of every facet of marketing and branding for the entire Cabinet for Economic Development. This included everything from our marketing language to re-branding to a complete website design and development overhaul. Since our primary targets are businesses, we want to portray ourselves as more of a business than a government organization. We portrayed a professional look but kept a fresh marketing ideal in mind throughout the process.

Idea State U

Idea State U

The target audience for Idea State U are college students as the purpose for the organization is to promote innovation in entrepreneurship. The website's purpose is to offere information about a competition held by ISU and a way for students to sign-up for the competition. I designed the entire user-interface and developed it as well. Since the website was going to need to be updated with important dates and events, I decided to integrate it into WordPress to allow non-developers to login and make additions themselves. For the design, I wanted to give it an innovative look and feel that would appeal to aspiring entrepreneurs.

Red Tape Reduction

Red Tape Reduction
Website for the governor's initiative to cut regulations

This is another project that the Governor's Office came to us knowing we were one of their top resources for website development. The website needed to have the capability for users to submit regulations that they felt were curbing business development so the Governor's Office could then review the regulations and possibly ammend or repeal them. I designed the user-interface and developed the entire front-end. I worked with a .NET developer on the user submission and database functionality.

Stone Brewing

Stone Brewing
Project Website for a prominent distillery

One of the needs of the Cabinet for Econimic Development is RFI project websites. The purpose is to offer a creative way for our team to communicate information such as tax incentives to potential companies looking to relocate or expand. In this particular case, we were encouraged to be creative as possible which was music to my ears. I worked with two of our designers to conceptualize the functionality of the website and the interface was designed by one of our lead designers. We decided we needed to tell a story, and to do this, we used a scrolling animation technique driven by JavaScript.

KOHS

Kentucky Orthopeadic & Hand Surgeons

A client I had previously worked with as a freelancer needed to rebrand and revamp their website and I was happy to work with them again. The client wanted to improve their design, but even more than that they wanted their website to actually server as a functioning tool for their patients to use. They also had the need for their own employees to make edits and additions, so I decided to integrate the website into WordPress to make this easy for them. On the website, they are able to post patient education articles, add new doctors and more. Currently, we are working on adding forms that patients can fill out online rather than download, print and bring in.

Spark

SPARK Conference

Spark is another automotive conference held as a one day event. One of the main purpose of the conference is to connect people in the Automotive Industry so we made sure to promote that attractive feature on the website in multiple ways. We thought it was important to use friendly but innovative colors and style. This webite was designed by one of our designers and I developed the website.
